Itinerary
Arrive in Paro, Bhutan, after a flight from Bangkok, Thailand. From Paro, you will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. En route, you will visit the Dechen Phodrang Central Monastic Body, a prominent monastic school that offers education to young monks
In the morning, hike to Chari or Tango Monastery (2850m). In the afternoon, visit the National Memorial Chorten and drive to Buddha Point for a stunning view of the Thimphu valley. Next, travel to Takin Park to see the national animal of Bhutan. In the evening, visit the traditional paper factory, followed by a visit to the Changzamtog Weaving Centre.
Spend the day exploring Punakha, visiting Dochula Druk Wangyel Chorten, a cluster of 108 victory stupas at Dochula Pass (3150m). Next, head to Chhimi Lhakhang, a temple famous for its fertility powers. In the afternoon, visit Punakha Dzong, a 17th-century fortress (1200m), and conclude with a visit to Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, a beautiful monastery overlooking the valley.
Embark on a hike through the rice terraces and forests, which leads to the majestic Khamsum Yulley Chorten. As you walk, take in the breathtaking scenery from the suspension bridge. In the afternoon, enjoy an exciting river rafting adventure.
Travel to Gangtey and visit the Gantey Goenpa monastery, which is home to some of Bhutan’s most sacred relics.
Hike to beautiful Phubjikha valley (3,000m). Visit an old temple and make an offering there.
In the evening, stop at the village of Kewa (meaning potato in Dzongkha) and visit a local family’s farm for a cooking demonstration and enjoy a home-cooked dinner.
Visit the Black-Necked Crane Centre in the morning, one of Bhutan’s most ecologically sensitive areas.
Travel to Paro and visit Paro Dzong, the National Museum, and Kyichu Lhakhang, a temple built in the 8th century.
Hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest (2,900m), which will take at least 2 hours to reach. Enjoy a cultural program and dinner in traditional Bhutanese style in the evening.
